Financial Model Template
Description
Every founder is asked the same question, and most of them guess: how much do you actually need to raise?
This model answers it. Build your forecast, and the lowest point on the cash flow is your funding gap, in pounds, with the workings behind it. Not a number you picked because it sounded credible.
Built for UK companies:
Corporation tax, employer National Insurance, pension contributions and cost inflation are all in the assumptions, applied properly. Most templates you will find are American, and quietly leave out the employment costs that make a UK hiring plan expensive.
8 tabs, three years, monthly:
Assumptions – every driver in one place, so changing a price or a growth rate updates the whole model
Salaries – headcount by role, with employer costs added on top
Income & Expenditure – leads through conversions and organic sales to revenue, then variable and fixed costs
Cash Flow – monthly, and where your funding gap appears
Overview – the 3-year picture
Investor Overview & ROI – key ratios, EBITDA margin, a valuation on an EBITDA multiple, and an equity calculator showing what a given raise costs you at a given pre-money
Dashboard – revenue, EBITDA, revenue split, LTV, CAC and payback, with charts you can screenshot straight into a deck
Market Sizing – a TAM, SAM and SOM worksheet with room for your research and your sources
Assumptions you can defend:
Every driver sits in its own labelled cell and every figure is a formula. When an investor asks why revenue triples in year two, you can point at the assumption that does it and change it in front of them. A model with hardcoded revenue reads as a guess, and experienced investors spot one in seconds.
Worked example included:
The template arrives populated with a fictional business so you can see how the tabs feed each other before you replace the numbers with your own. Editable input cells are shaded, so you always know what is safe to change.
Who it's for:
Founders building their first proper forecast, and anyone who has been asked for a financial model and is not sure what one is supposed to contain.
