Example conversation
I can, but I'd push back on the timing first. An investor will ask two things you can't answer yet:
- Will people pay? You haven't sold a box yet, so right now the £150k would be backing a hunch.
- Do the numbers work? Beans, a gadget, packaging and postage could easily cost £20 a box. That leaves very little to spend on finding customers, and subscriptions live or die on how long people stay.
It may well be a good idea. But investors back evidence, not ideas. You can get some in three weeks:
- Week 1: put up a simple pre-order page and share it in three home-barista communities.
- Week 2: aim for 30 paid pre-orders at full price. If you can't get them, that's worth knowing now rather than after a raise.
- Week 3: cost one real box, right down to the postage.
Come back with that and your pitch gets a lot easier to believe. Want me to draft the pre-order page?
